I took a couple of weeks learning and experimenting with some concepts. There are a lot of requests and good recommendations coming in. There's also some critical things I need to finish.
Exchanges are beginning to proliferate. With this in mind, I want to emphasis the qualities that make this a market. I won't be adding anymore currency options for the time being.
Here are a few things I want to work on...
- A market order option which will basically grab the current bid or ask.
- Interactive charts
- Adjusted quotes for confirmed, unconfirmed, and cancelled trades
- Quotes in XML, and a current price resource for "streaming" or embedding
- Some JQuery eye candy
Question: Have you had or do you expect to have any problems from PayPal or other companies questioning the legitimacy of your business? What will you do to explain the inevitable misunderstandings that may result when you are investigated by PayPal employees? What if your PayPal account is frozen? etc.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to see an API to query for current exchange rates. I want to write a module for Rainmeter, a "desktop overlay" utility, that gives me a live update for how much my current quantity of bitcoins is worth in USD.

ReplyDeletePayment in USD is sent directly from the buyer to the seller. I hold the Bitcoins until payment is sent. Basically, I act as a Bitcoin escrow agent. I don't have a central account PayPal can freeze.
@Quantum
A resource is now up at https://www.bitcoinmarket.com/bitcoin/fxchange.quote.json
It's "sort of" following the spec at http://bcspec.org
Sorry for the delay. I need to check the blog more often.
Hey, do you need a programmer / architect / web guy? I'm interested in Bitcoin, and will work for bitcoins.
